En ego, O bone et dulcissime Jesu, ante conspectum tuum genibus me provolvo, ac maximo animi ardore te oro atque obtestor ut meum in cor vividos fidei, spei, et charitatis sensus, atque veram peccatorum meorum poenitentiam, eaque emendandi firmissimam voluntatem velis imprimere: dum mag-no animi affectu, et dolore tua quinque Vulnera mecum ipse considero, ac mente contemplor, illud præoculis habens, quod jam in ore ponebat tuo David propheta de te, O bone Jesu: Foderunt manus meas et pedes meos; dinumeraverunt omnia ossa mea. (Ps. xxi, 17, 18.)

O good and sweetest Jesus, before thy face I humbly kneel, and with the greatest fervour of spirit I pray and beseech Thee to vouchsafe to fix deep in my heart lively sentiments of faith, hope and charity, true contrition for my sins, and a most firm purpose of amendment; whilst I contemplate with great sorrow and affection thy five wounds, and ponder them over in my mind, having before my eyes the words which, long ago, David the prophet spoke in thy own person concerning Thee, my Jesus: They have pierced my hands and my feet; they have numbered all my bones. (Ps. xxi,

17,18.)

V. Adoramus Te, CHRISTE, et benedicimus tibi.

R. Quia per sanctam Crucem tuam redemisti mundum.

V. We adore Thee, O CHRIST, and we bless Thee.

R. Because by thy holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Devotion to the Five Wounds of Christ

 

O Jesus, dying on the cross for love of poor sinners, by Thy sacred head crowned with thorns, I beg Thee to have mercy on the the leaders of this world,  the Pope, all bishops, priests, and Religious Orders.

 

 

Through the wound in Thy right hand, I recommend to Thee my family, father, mother, spouse, children, brothers, sisters, relations, friends, and benefactors, and all the families of the world.

 

 

Through the wound in Thy left hand, I pray for my enemies, the enemies of the church and the faith, those who have fallen into error or sin, and for those throughout the world who have never heard Thy gospel or have never been baptized. Help Thy servants who are trying to restore or to convert them.

 

 

Through the wound in Thy right foot, I pray for the suffering peoples of the world, the poor, the sick, and the dying, and for all who are in any kind of pain, temptation, or trouble.

 

 

Through the wound in Thy left foot, I beg of Thee mercifully to grant eternal rest in the world to come to all Thy faithful departed, especially N.N.

 

 

Through the wound in Thy sacred Heart, O Jesus, I offer myself to do and suffer all things for Thy love. I offer up my daily sacrifices in reparation for those who offend Thee.  Give me all the graces I stand in need of to do what is most pleasing to Thee and especially the grace of perseverance.
