Oremus |
Let us pray |
Omnipotens sempiterne Deus, parce paenitentibus, propitiare supplicantibus, et largire nobis beneficia misericordiae tuae, ut haec ieiunia sint omnibus nomen tuum invocantibus, et ante conspectum clementiae tuae facinora sua deplorantibus, remedium mentis et corporis, ut quicumque te pro remissione peccatorum suorum invocaverint, corporis et animae sanitatem percipiant, et praemia tibi fideliter servientibus promissa, in aeterna beatitudine consequantur.
Oh almighty and everlasting God, spare the penitent, be merciful to those who implore Thee, and give to us generously of Thy benificent mercy, that this Fast may be for all who invoke Thy name, and in Thy sight, deploring their deeds, beseech Thy clemency, the healing of body and mind, that those who invoke Thy aid for the remission of their sins may in consequence receive health of body and soul, and Thy reward promised to Thy faithful servants, for blessed eternity.
Deus, qui hominem mirabiliter creasti, et mirabilius redemisti, da nobis contra oblectamenta peccati, mentis ratione persistere, et maiestati tuae sincero corde servire.
Oh God, who hath wonderfully created man, and more wonderfully that redeemed him, grant us, against the allurements of sin, the intellect and reason to persevere, with a sincere heart, to serve Thy majesty.
Preces populi tui, quaesumus Domine, clementer exaudi, ut qui iuste pro peccatis nostris affligimur, pro tui nominis gloria misericorditer liberemur.
Graciously hear the prayers of Thy people, plaintively beseeching Thee, Oh Lord, that those who are justly afflicted because of our sins may, for the glory of Thy Name. mercifully be freed.
Familiam tuam quaesumus, Domine, continua pietate custodi, ut a cunctis adversitatibus te protegente sit libera et in bonis actibus tuo nomini sit devota.
We beseech Thee, Oh Lord, with Thy compassion ever guarding Thy family, that by Thy protection it may be free from all adversities, and may be devoted in good deeds to Thy name.
Oh God, who desireth not the death of sinners, but their repentance, consider most benignly the frailty of our human condition, and oversee our endeavors with benign compassion, so that through Thy great mercy we may obtain pardon for our sins, constancy in Thy service, and perseverance in joyously attaining the promised reward.
